Type pairs
The INFJ and ENFP make a golden pair: each one's ego is the other's shadow. No pairing is guaranteed, but these two minds fit together in unusually specific ways. Here's why they tend to click, and where they can clash.
Mirror minds
Every type has all eight cognitive functions, in a different order. The top four form the ego, the side of the mind a person uses most. The bottom four form the shadow, which is less conscious, more pessimistic, and used less often.
The INFJ's shadow is arranged exactly like the ENFP's ego, and the other way around. What comes most naturally to one is what the other finds hardest, so each can learn from the other's strengths, or feel quietly challenged by them.

Where they meet
At every level of the ego, the INFJ and ENFP hold the same position with opposite sides of the same idea.
Ni Hero and Ne Hero
The ENFP's flexible Ne can help the INFJ plan, opening up options for the vision the INFJ's Ni wants. In return, the INFJ can help the ENFP choose one path and commit to it.
Fe Parent and Fi Parent
Both take being good seriously, from opposite sides of the heart. The INFJ starts from how others feel; the ENFP starts from their own values.
Ti Child and Te Child
Both approach thinking with curiosity, but in the Child position either can be overconfident. Each can help the other check a conclusion before running with it.
Se Aspirational and Si Aspirational
Neither is naturally strongest with day-to-day practicalities, so together they may need to build structure on purpose.
How they work together
The ENFP is a Starter: they tend to kick things off, bring people in, and have the most energy at the beginning. The INFJ is a Finisher: they tend to respond rather than initiate, and they like carrying a project through to completion.
Starters and Finishers often get along well. They share a love of progression, so they move at the same pace, and they tend to enjoy relationships where new experiences keep things alive.
Their communication styles balance out too. The ENFP gives context and detail; the INFJ gets straight to the point. One keeps the conversation rich, the other keeps it moving.

Takes what's been started and carries it to the end.
Shared temperament
Idealists are abstract, affiliative, and interest-driven: focused on the future, on relationships, and on making things better for people. Both types tend to care about fairness and about where people and society are heading.
They just go about it differently. ENFPs tend to change how people see things and where they're headed. INFJs tend to take a vision and turn it into something real.
The honest part
A close fit doesn't mean an easy one. Because each type's strengths sit in the other's shadow, the same differences that draw them together can also rub.
A note on compatibility: no pairing guarantees a good relationship, and no pairing rules one out. Type explains tendencies. How healthy and developed each person is matters far more than which four letters they have.
