How it works

Functions, not four letters

Most tests score each letter on its own. This one measures the eight cognitive functions underneath them and works out the order you use them in.

Answer 52 scenarios

Each one sets a function against its opposite. Pick where you lean, from strongly A to strongly B.

We map your functions

Your answers are compared against all sixteen stacks to find the order that fits you best.

Questions

Before you start

How is this different from other personality tests?

Most tests score E/I, S/N, T/F and J/P separately and combine the letters. This test measures the eight cognitive functions directly, then works out which four you use and in what order. That order is what your type actually describes.

Should I answer how I am or how I want to be?

How you are now, on an ordinary day. There are no better or worse answers, and answering as the person you're working toward will give you someone else's type.

What if my result doesn't feel right?

Your results page shows the closest alternatives. Read your result and the runner-up, and see which one describes a real day in your life. You're the final judge.

Can I skip a question or go back?

Yes. Use the Back button, or tap any segment of the progress bar to jump straight to that question. Anything you missed shows up in a different colour.

Can I retake it?

As often as you like. There's a Retake button on the results page.

Is my data stored?

No. Your answers are scored in your browser and aren't saved or sent anywhere, and you don't need an account or an email address.
